Information on the Disposal of Batteries

Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of in household waste.

As a consumer, you are legally obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. You can return them free of charge to a local collection point or to retailers after use.

Meaning of the Symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

Below the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, you may also find chemical symbols with the following meanings:

  • Pb = Battery contains lead
  • Cd = Battery contains cadmium
  • Hg = Battery contains mercury

Return Options

You can return used batteries and rechargeable batteries to us free of charge or dispose of them at appropriate collection points in your area.
